Meet Allison Ziogas
Allison Ziogas is a first-generation IBEW electrician, seasoned labor organizer, and labor relations professional.
A resident of Pleasant Plains, Staten Island, Allison has spent over 20 years at the intersection of the labor movement, the energy industry, and building the infrastructure that makes New York City what it is — schools, stations, and skyscrapers. She is currently leveraging her decades of experience on the front lines of large-scale construction to run for U.S. Congress.
Allison’s career began as an apprentice with IBEW Local 3, entering the trade through the support of Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW). She spent over 15 years "on the tools," including as a foreman, overseeing major infrastructure projects that define New York City’s skyline.
Most recently, Allison served as the Head of Labor Relations for an energy developer, where she negotiated the landmark National Offshore Wind Agreement with North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU). This landmark framework governs billions of dollars in construction contracts and has facilitated more than 5 million union labor hours, establishing national standards for middle-class wages and workforce equity in the energy economy. By securing high-quality union jobs from Maine to Florida, Allison set a new national standard for working conditions, equity, and middle-class wage injection in the energy economy.
Allison’s expertise in workforce development and energy policy has led to several high-level appointments:
U.S. Department of Energy: Member of the 21st Century Energy Workforce Advisory Board (EWAB), providing strategic recommendations to the Secretary of Energy.
TradesFutures: Board Member for NABTU’s national workforce development arm.
Rhode Island Governor’s Workforce Advisory Board: Former advisor on state-level labor and economic alignment.
A graduate of the Joseph Murphy Institute (CUNY), Allison’s early advocacy began as a Teamsters organizer focusing on protections for exploited workers. Within IBEW Local 3, she has served on the Contract Negotiating Committee and the Staten Island Electrical Club’s Board of Directors.
Today, Allison lives on Staten Island with her husband—an IBEW Local 3 shop steward—their two children, and their two dogs.
